Discuss Food with Oxford Gastronomica at the Oxford Literary Festival
Oxford, immortalised by the poet Matthew Arnold as “that sweet city with her dreaming spires”, is the place to go to eat at one of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. Jamie’s Italian is located at 24-26 George Street, Oxford and offers accessible and affordable Italian food that would be eaten by ordinary folk in their homes across Italy.
Starters include delicious sounding antipasti dishes such as English wild boar salami and Italian cheeses with chilli jam. Main courses include pasta dishes such as truffle tagliatelli and penne arrabiata. Non pasta dishes are also available and include a variety of steaks along with chicken and lamb chops cooked under a brick.

Oxford is well known for its University but it is also the place to go to dine at celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant on George Street. If discussing the role of food in literature and how reading about eating in books can help understand different cultures appeals then why not consider attending the Oxford Gastronomica events at the Oxford Literary Festival?

The Oxford Literary Festival, sponsored by the Sunday Times air max 95, takes place at Christ Church, Oxford between March 20th and 28th 2010. It may seem a strange choice of event to visit on a culinary tour of the city of Oxford, but it’s where Oxford Gastronomica will be presenting a series of discussions relating to food and what can be learnt about it from literature.
