Note: For toddlers GHD Hair Straigheners, the bread can be coated with ghee or butter, in order to make it more tastier.
Methi means fresh fenugreek leaves; Phulka means dry and flat whole wheat bread, generally called as roti. This recipe consumes negligible oil and is very nutritious. Packed with proteins and goodness of fenugreek, it is a good alternative to plain flat Indian bread that is consumed for dinner.
Methi PhulkaIngredients3 cups whole wheat flour (non sieved)1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves – washed and trimmed3 big onions – diced into pieces 2 cups chopped onions½ cup fresh coriander leaves – trimmed and finely chopped (optional)1 small garlic – crushed (optional)2 slices of ginger (optional)1 tea spoon cumin seeds powder1 tea spoon coriander seeds powderSalt to taste1 tea spoon of oilProcedureTake fresh fenugreek leaves, chopped onions, fresh coriander leaves, garlic, and ginger in a microwave bowl and cook till tender. Let it cool a bit but should be warm enough. Sieve the cooked vegetables and keep the strained water instead of throwing it. Blend the warm, cooked fenugreek leaves mixture in a blender while adding cumin seeds powder and coriander seeds powder.Take a large mixing bowl. Add whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt to taste. Mix well. Then add the blended warm mixture paste to the flour and knead the dough till all lumps are gone. When kneading, if the dough requires more water then add warm strained water instead of plain water. Knead the dough properly till thick consistency so that it can be rolled later. Apply oil all over the dough to make the bread tender after preparation. Leave it for half an hour.After half an hour, knead the dough once again and divide it into golf ball or TT ball size round balls. Take one ball and cover rest of the balls till the preparation is complete. Keep dipping the rolled disc into the dry flour to prevent it from sticking to the rolling surface.Note: The rolling of the dough should be even throughout.Now GHD New Blue Serenity Hair Straighteners, rub off excess flour sticking to the rolled dough and place it onto a hot tawa or a flat pan. Flip it immediately to the other side before bubbles appear on the surface. Let it cook for approximately 15 seconds. Without flipping the bread, place it directly on the flame or the hob for complete cooking till the bread swells with air.Store the cooked flat bread in an airtight container once it cools down. Repeat the same procedure for all the other dough balls. Consume it at any time of the day along with ketchup, pickle, curry, yogurt, ghee and sugar, vegetables, or salad.This recipe makes approximately 15 flat Indian breads depending upon the size of the balls.
