Load the music files onto your computer
Most of us comesintoseffect with our iPods at loading up the CDs we've collected over the years, so let's start there. Copy the files from your CDs onto your computer's hard disk so it'll be available to your iPod manager. Note: If you use iTunes and have "Copy files to iTunes music direcotry" selected, you can bounce copying the files to the PC -- just having the CD in your computer's CD drive ambition be enough.
2) Bring the music files into your iPod manager software
You'll use one "iPod director" application to deal moving files to and from the iPod. Apple's free iTunes software is the iPod manager most of us use. You're welcome to see at the other options -- Wikipedia has a beautiful good list. If you're new to iPods I suggest you start with iTunes. Once you understand what you do and don't like about iTunes you'll be in a better location to decide whether you want to look in a another iPod manager.
By the way, using iTunes to manage iPod files does NOT reserve you from buying music from other companies -- I purchase music downloads from 3 different vendors but use iTunes to move them behind and for from my iPod.
Quick tip: If you want iTunes to put a duplicate of the document in the cardinal iTunes library catalogue, choose Edit, Preferences, Advanced from the menu and click the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder while adding to library." I like to do this to make it simple to find my music files. I kas long asmusic files anywhere another on my hard drive aren't part of the iTunes library and can safely be deleted.
Wherever you got your music from, once it's on your calculator you can import it into iTunes. You have a couple options. One course is to select (from the top menu) File, Add Folder to Library, and find the folder holding your music. Click "OKAY" and iTunes will immediately show the music in the Library music list. Another access is to use the Control & O keys. Navigate to the files' situation and click on the files you want to join.
3) Connect your iPod nano
If your iPod isn't already chained, get your USB cord (came with your iPod) out and join the computer and iPod. The left-hand menu should show your iPod when it's successfully connected.
How you upload the music depends on whether you're letting iTunes manage your iPod alternatively have elected to "manually manage" your iPod. I choose the "manually manage" reach because it lets me to elect and choose which files to shake to my nano. It likewise allows me to pull files from multiple computers to the one iPod.
4) Now to upload music to that iPod nano
If you decided to let iTunes manage the uploads you're prepared to start. Just click your iPod's icon and select "Sync" in the lower right edge. You're done! Play with that a few times. Try making playlists to team your music, go to iStore to download a couple free podcasts, and go enjoy!
Will you administer uploads manually? You'll need to do a rapid, one-time install. In iTunes, click the nano's icon and select "Manually manage melody and movies" aboard the iTunes shade. Now you just select the music you absence and drag it onto the iPod icon. Voila! The music uploads.
5) Last step: Eject your iPod before disconnecting
Never loosen your iPod nano without expelling it premier. Not catching that accessory minute hazards corrupting the files. Eject from iTunes by clicking the button at bottom right of the screen.
6) Go detect more music
Now that you have the hang of it, it's period to work find more music, podcasts, games and videos for your iPod nano. I obtain my podcasts through iTunes, which has a terrific catalogue. Music, games and videos, on the other hand, can be found in a lot of additional stores for quite reasonable prices. See my network site as proposals.
